By now the team is back home safe and sound. I chose to stay
behind hoping to learn more about the youth group, spend some time at the
school and being able to visit with all my friends. I am not much of a blogger
but will do my best to keep you all informed.
Had a wonderful week with the Dominican team, we prayed
together and they shared their dreams and visions. It was amazing listening to each one, as they
all have a different passion, but focused on the same goal, bettering their
community. It is a pretty strong team, spiritually, intellectually and passionate
to envision changes for their community.
Dreams of providing education to as many children as they
can, this year the TEARS School doubled the number of students, and still many
more are without education due to the lack of space. One of their priority
plans is building a one floor two-class structure, that will house 3 year old
preschoolers. Children start school as early as 2 years.
The TEARS School is privately run, providing above quality education.
It presently houses kindergarten to grade seven, after that students have to go
to public school, where the degree of
education is below average and Christian values are not taught. For these
reason a grade 8 is also a priority for next year and eventually increase to
grade 12, including technical education to enable those students with greater
needs to join the labour force if not able to continue with secondary
education.
The need is huge, the financial resources very limited and
yet the work continues trusting in God who gives them strength.
Blessings

Judy, I picked up the team Thursday around midnight. they were tired but elated with their trip. Keith is very sick and now we think it is pneumonia. Thanks for the update. Pass on my regards to the TEARS team.
